Abstract

Sequence stratigraphy analysis provides a chronostratigraphic framework for geomodeling which is closer to reality and helps to estimate reservoir distribution in macro scale. The models under the sequence stratigraphic frameworkhelp to separate the potential reservoir (e.g., shale gas) from other sediment. We can obtain sand matrix models, probability models and pseudo-porosity models from impedance inversion so as to construct petrophysical models accurately in 3D space, especially outside of wells. By filtering and extracting different facies from seismic data, we can locate geobodies like channels, levees, organic reefs, etc.
