Abstract
In this presentation, five statistical ranking measures were successfully applied to examine their capability to rank the geostatistical geological realizations designed for SAGD reservoir modeling studies. The permeability Mean ranking statistical measure as defined in the research methodology can be used to rank the generic geostatistical geological realizations for SAGD reservoir modeling studies as it nicely correlated with the SAGD reservoir model performance parameters including steam chamber volumes and cumulative bitumen production. At most, it was able to explain up to 80% of the variability of the reservoir model. The permeability mean ranking statistical measure has shown poor correlation with the performance of the reservoir models when the geological heterogeneity has been incorporated. The Permeability Pore-Volume Weighted mean ranking statistical measure as defined in the research methodology was able to explain up to 75% of the variability of the SAGD reservoir models when the geological heterogeneity was incorporated.
