Abstract
This research shows that the EDL thickness depends on the dimensionless particle radius besides dimensionless surface charge density and κ-1. The newly developed predictive formulas for surface charging mathematically describe how surface charging parameters are related to key parameters. The new approach eliminates the need for simultaneous measurements of both the size and surface charging parameters. The size-dependence of total charge is linear and quadratic for large cylindrical and spherical particles, respectively. The calculated values of micellar radii using the new models agree very well with the measured data. The new physics-based mathematical models can accurately predict structural parameters in ionic surfactant-induced microemulsions. The new models have several advantages over existing methods.
