Abstract:

This study shows that ST-ISUT injection is a promising method for improving oil recovery compared to conventional injection method; The incremental oil production comes from the superior effectiveness in decreasing the viscosity and mass density of heavy-oil;  the co-steam injection plays an important role to achieve the better performance of ISUT; ST-ISUT can increase oil recovery by 35.81% and reduces the SOR up to 50% in comparison with the conventional steam injection;  simulation results also indicate that a combination of catalysts,  hydrogen, and vacuum residue help to improve the quality of the produced oil.
