Dr. Ngoc Nguyen is currently a Research Associate who joined Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at University of Calgary from May 2012. She holds a Bachelor degree from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam. She studied Environmental Geology during her college. She was a lecturer at Faculty of Petroleum and Geology Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology from 2003 to 2008. During this period, she holds a Master degree in Petroleum Geology from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia in 2005.
She was an employee of PETRONAS (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. She worked as reservoir geologist. Then, she continuously studied her Ph.D. degree at University of Sejong from 2008 to 2012. At this university, she joined in several EOR projects with her professor such as Chemical flooding (polymer and ASP flood), Water Shut-off, and thermal flood (SAGD). She did many experiments about phase behavior and gelation time of polymer/cross-linker systems to study the effective factors on optimal salinity of Alkaline/Polymer/Surfactant solutions and HPAM/chromium acetate systems. She has been serving as a Technical Editor for journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, Elsevier.
Now, she is working on in situ upgrading of bitumen and heavy oils via nanocatalysis, modeling and simulation of enhanced oil recovery processes, optimization and geological uncertainty assessment using CMOST-CMG software with Dr. Zhangxing (John) Chen, Dr. Pedro Pereira and Dr. Long Nghiem.
