Zahra Sahaf is a PhD student of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. Her main supervisor is Dr. Mario Costa Sousa, and she is also co supervised by Dr. John Chen and Dr. Frank Maurer. Her main research area is the application of novel visual analytics techniques on the geological and simulation massive data sets. By performing that, she is going to solve the problems of big data in the oil and gas field using visual analytics techniques. In 2015 Zahra led a team awarded with the first prize for the project titled Interactive Visual Analytics of Pipeline Incident Data for the Energy Industry Competition, sponsored by IBM Canada and the Advisory Committee on Analytics and Visualization (ACAV) at the University of Calgary. Zahra received her Master in Software Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (Iran), and her BSc in Software Engineering from Yazd University (Iran). In both degrees, she got highest overall GPA among all the students. Her main research interests include visual analytics, data mining, big data, software testing and performance testing. Zahra is currently doing an internship in Computer Modeling Group (CMG) Company, her internship focuses mainly on the automated testing and visual analytics techniques for the 3D visualization applications.
