As a member of the “Reservoir Simulation Group” at the University of Calgary, he is conducting research on mathematical modelling and numerical simulation of advanced recovery processes for heavy oil and Canadian oil sands. This includes thermal and solvent-thermal recovery processes such as Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD), solvent and steam co-injection, N-SOLV, Enhanced Solvent Extraction Incorporating Electromagnetic Heating (ESEIEH) and so on.
Previous work as a member of Enhanced Oil and Gas Recovery and Reservoir Characterization Group (EOGRRC), at the University of Alberta, includes:
– Modelling and optimization of thermal (SAGD) and thermal-solvent (ES-SAGD, SAP, etc.) recovery processes.
– Thermal and compositional reservoir simulation.
– Analysis of phase behaviour as well as steam and steam-solvent transport in depletion chambers in bitumen/heavy oil recovery processes.
