Mohammad Hossain Nikpoor is a petroleum engineering M.Sc. student joined the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary in January 2011. He holds B.Sc. in petroleum reservoir engineering from the Petroleum University of Technology (PUT) in Iran; and dual M.Sc./M.Eng. degree in reservoir engineering from the PUT/ University of Calgary.

He has attained first ranking in M.Sc. Entrance Exam (Iran, 2007, Reservoir Engineering); invited by SPE for SPE Young Member Programs (Denver 2008 STAR Program); invited by SPE for 2009 Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE) and several other successes.
Mohammad’s research interests include:

  • Modeling of Compositional Grading in Hydrocarbon reservoirs
  • Modeling of Phase Behavior of Petroleum Reservoir Fluids (Multiphase)
  • A compositional (EOS based) PVT package capable of describing conventional phenomena and also those occurring under the influence of a capillary pressure is a crucial requirement for a sound description of the petroleum reservoir.
