Abstract
Sand Failure Mechanisms include: shear failure (due to aggressive drawdown pressure) and tensile failure (due to high production rate). In this article, an analytical model of sand failure is established. In this model sand failure mechanisms in CHOPS are modeled using stress distribution in the reservoir. Wormhole growth is tracked using stress continuity at the tip of wormhole.
