Abstract
Pressure derivatives calculated as a function of formation thickness can be used as a tool to determine the effective formation thickness. It is shown from sensitivity analysis that pressure transient measurements are found to be sensitive to permeability anisotropy, flow rate, porosity and permeability. Effective formation thickness is a strong function of permeability anisotropy, flowrate, porosity, gauge resolution and probe location.
