Abstract

The key geomechanical issues in SAGD process mainly include thermal expansion, pore pressure changes and hydraulic fracturing. In this study, the required geomechanical parameters of mechanical properties are presented. A unique operational case is identified for cap rock integrity study of two shale layers separating and containing two bitumen bearing zones. A detailed geostatistical model is built for the McKay project using the log, and core data from the core holes and the actual Hz well pairs. Geomechanical parameters are incorporated in the model.
