Abstract
In this presentation, we report a new efficient multiphase flash calculation algorithm. The new algorithm avoids the steps of a stability analysis which is necessary for flash calculations specially at problematic conditions. It has a run-time irrespective of the number of trial phases chosen initially. Using a Newton Iteration can accelerate the process of calculations. Quasi-Newton methods can highly reduce the run-time when the number of variables is high. The new algorithm is shown to be remarkably robust. An additional phase in equilibrium means a big change in the run-time (that is why using Henry’s law for the water phase is expected to be very promising).
