Development of a Standalone Thermal Wellbore Simulator

Abstract

In this work, a standalone thermal wellbore simulator has been developed. It can handle different complex wellbores: wellbore with multistage casings, horizontal well, multilateral well and double tubing. A method that uses totally numerical solutions for calculating heat loss to surroundings is proposed. Empirical correlations for natural convective heat transfer in vertical annulus (including double tubing case) are regressed.
