Abstract:

In this presentation, a 2-dimensional unsteady model is developed for multi-phase heat and fluid transport in SAGD, considering initial water of a reservoir is mobile. it also shows that steam chamber movement, fluid production rate, recovery factor, temperature distribution, fluid saturation, and fluid mobility can be predicted for a project design; heat transfer at a steam chamber middle can be treated as steady state with minor errors; a heat zone beyond the steam chamber has a wider bottom and a narrower top;  a water-oil ratio decreases rapidly with nincreasing, and n=1.5 is a feasible assumption for a typical Athabasca reservoir.
