Abstract
In this work, the coupling with a corner grid (pinchout, wedged grid) is developed for the geomechanics module in order to model a complex grid for more practical problems. The thermal-porous-elastoplastic model is used to model the stress change and the surface heave of a SAGD problem. The stress analysis can help safeguard the caprock integrity. The couple geomechanics-flow simulation can model the stress magnitude and orientation after the historical exploration, which can help make decisions about hydraulic fracturing and well locations.
