Coupled Geomechanics and Fluid Flow Modeling in Fractured Reservoirs

In this work,  a coupled geomechanics and fluid flow model is developed and has the capability to model the fracture deformations and permeability variations due to the combined effect of the fluid pressure and solid stresses.  It shows that Iterative coupling method can fully capture the geomechanics effects on flow fluid behavior. MPI based parallel computing can greatly reduce the simulation time and enable the coupled simulator to solve large field-scale problems
