Abstract
Hydraulic fracture modeling is a coupled Flow-Mechanical problem associated with complex interactions between rock mechanical failure and multiphase flow inside the fracture plane.
Six stages are presented for developing the coupled geomechanical modeling of hydraulic fracture propagation, including the developed hydraulic fracture module imbedded into FATS code, proppant transportation and leak-off incorporated inside FATS, extended FEM subroutine developed using ABAQUS code, modular coupled approach: FATS and ABAQUS, validated by GEOSIM, analytical solutions and field data and case study.
