Abstract:
This presentation shows that chemical additives and foam improve the SAGD performance in terms of oil production and SOR. The mechanisms involved are viscosity reduction, mobility control, interfacial tension drop and emulsification. CAFA-SAGD improves oil production through decreasing oil-water interfacial tension and O/W entrainment. CAFA-SAGD cuts down SOR by enhancing steam trap and steam mobility control through foam. The success of CAFA-SAGD depends on the stability and properties of surfactants and other additives as well as the injection scheme, etc.
